The Historic Virginia Chapter has completed the job of helping the victims of the Bedford Forest Fire. We would like to express the appreciation of all those connected with the Red Cross disaster relief operation and for the help and support from our local media outlets. The Chapter will continue to provide assistance to the families who still need help. If you need assistance in Bedford, please call our office at 1-800-625-6680. Thank you to all of our volunteers who made this operation such a success. This would not have been possible without your help and support.
An American Red Cross Emergency Shelter is now open to provide meals and lodging for those displaced from the Bedford County forest fire.
The Red Cross shelter is located at:
Montvale Elementary School
1 Little Patriot Drive
Montvale, VA 24122
If possible, bring with you any medicines needed by members of the family, feeding formulas for infants, a pillow and blanket for each member of the family, a change of clothing, and books and simple toys for your children. Public health requirements do not permit us to accept pets in shelters.
