The Disaster Action Team (DAT)
Your Historic Virginia Chapter of the American Red Cross responds to hundreds of disaster incidents every year. Locally, we provided emergency responses to house and apartment fires (an average of over 80 a year), flooding, hurricanes, tornadoes and other natural and man-made events. We also deploy local volunteers to assist in national disasters wherever the need may be. Our assistance includes meeting the emergency caused needs to our clients; such as shelter, food, clothing and emotional support.
Whether it is a fire, flood or tornado it is essential that you, your family and/or your business know about the services available to you from the Historic Virginia Chapter.
- We can help you Be Prepared
- We can teach you about Disaster Safety
- After a disaster we will be there to support you on your road to recovery
The Historic Virginia Chapter is here for you! Please be sure to read through our Web site or contact us in person to learn more about how we can help you prepare for the unexpected or recover from a disaster. Our paid and volunteer staff is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. All assistance is provided FREE and is an outright gift made possible by the donations of time, talent and financial resources from the American public.
How You Can Help
There are many ways that you can help: Become a disaster volunteer, donate funds designated towards local disaster services, get your company involved in disaster preparedness.
To become a disaster volunteer, you must go through our FREE disaster training. Historic Virginia Chapter volunteers are an integral part of providing services to those affected by local disasters. Some of our volunteers also become a part of our National cadre and will respond to major events around the country.
Please note that any member of the DAT Team has the potential to be promoted within the team if he or she desires.
